GC G-Bond Universal Bottle Refill

SKU 496290 · GC America
GC G-Bond Universal Bottle Refill (GC America item 10042014) is a light-cured, single-component Universal dental adhesive for enamel, dentin and indirect substrates, supplied as one 5 mL Refill Bottle. It is formulated with GC's water-free AAA Technology (Amphiphilic Amide monomer, Anhydrous composition, adhesive monomers): there is no added water to evaporate, and GC publishes that bond strength to dentin is statistically unchanged whether maximum air, mild air or no air-blow is used. the adhesive contains 10-MDP and an integrated silane coupling agent, works with self-etch, selective-enamel-etch and total-etch techniques, bonds to zirconia, base metal, glass ceramics (after hydrofluoric-acid etching) and composite without a separate primer, and is also indicated as a resin infiltrant for non-cavitated, non-carious white-spot lesions. Source: GC America product page, brochure and IFU.
Key Features
  • Bottle Refill — one 5 mL flip-top Bottle with controlled dispensing. GC states its controlled-dispensing Bottle gives 50% more drops per Bottle than the leading competitor.
  • water-free AAA Technology — amphiphilic amide monomer, anhydrous composition and adhesive monomers in one formulation; no added water to evaporate. GC states bond strength to dentin is statistically unchanged with maximum, mild or no air-blow.
  • Minimal-solvent design — formulated with only the solvent needed for optimal wetting; air-drying is not a mandatory step.
  • 10-MDP plus integrated silane coupling agent — chemical bonding to tooth structure, zirconia and base metals, and to glass ceramics and composite resin.
  • Low film thickness — about 1 µm (maximum air) to about 8 µm (no air-blow), well below the 50 µm cement-gap threshold for indirect restorations (GC).
  • Up to 7 minutes of working time after dispensing for multi-step procedures; protect the dispensed liquid from light.
  • Nearly colorless, transparent adhesive for esthetic restorative work.
  • All etching techniques — self-etch, selective enamel etch and total-etch.
  • Expanded uses — immediate dentin sealing, intraoral repair, desensitizing, post cementation, and resin infiltration of non-cavitated, non-carious enamel lesions.
Indications for Use
Bonding substance between tooth surface and dental restorations. Areas of application:
  1. Direct bonding of restorative materials
  2. Bonding of dual-cured core build-up composites
  3. adhesive cementation of indirect restorations
  4. Priming of the adherent surface of indirect restorations
  5. Intraoral repair of fractured restorations
  6. Treatment of hypersensitive teeth
  7. Sealing of tooth preparation (cavity or abutment) for indirect restorations
  8. Treatment of exposed root surfaces
  9. Micro-invasive treatment and infiltration of non-cavitated, non-carious enamel lesions
  10. Post cementation
Contraindications
  1. Direct pulp capping.
  2. Patients with known allergies to methacrylate monomer, methacrylate polymer or ethanol.
Directions for Use
I. Direct restorations
  1. Cavity preparation — prepare the tooth with standard techniques, making sure temporary material is thoroughly removed. Use rubber dam. Rinse and gently dry the prepared surfaces with an air syringe. for pulp protection use an approved material (e.g. calcium hydroxide).
  2. Treat tooth surfaces — choose one technique: (a) Self-etch: apply G-Bond Universal to bur-cut enamel and dentin with no separate etch step; always treat non-bur-cut enamel with 35–40% phosphoric acid gel for 10 s, rinse 5 s and dry gently. (b) Selective enamel etch: etch enamel only with 35–40% phosphoric acid gel for 10–15 s, rinse 5 s, dry gently. (c) Total-etch: etch enamel and dentin with 35–40% phosphoric acid gel for 10–15 s, rinse 5 s, dry gently.
  3. Application — Bottle type: pinch both cap-release buttons on the Bottle neck at the same time to open the flip-top cap, dispense a few drops into a clean dispensing dish, and close the cap immediately. Wipe excess liquid from the nozzle before closing. IMMEDIATELY apply evenly to the prepared enamel and dentin with the disposable applicator. Air-drying is not mandatory: thin with the applicator brush or air syringe until a shiny film covers the area.
  4. Light cure with a visible-light curing unit (times below).
  5. Place the composite — after light-curing the adhesive, follow the composite manufacturer's instructions. A dual-cured composite must also be light-cured separately; self-curing alone gives insufficient bond strength.
  6. Finish and polish with standard techniques.
Light-curing time
  • Halogen / LED (700–1200 mW/cm²): 10 seconds with the light-guide tip within 10 mm; 20 seconds beyond 10 mm.
  • High-power LED (more than 1200 mW/cm²): 5 seconds within 10 mm; 10 seconds beyond 10 mm.
Light-cure completely for an effective bond. Use a protective light shield or eye protection during curing. (GC IFU)
Notes
  • After long-term refrigerated storage, let G-Bond Universal stand at room temperature for several minutes before use.
  • Apply immediately after dispensing and protect the liquid from light.
  • Remove excess material from the tooth (outside the surfaces to be bonded) with a sponge or cotton pellet before curing — residue is hard to remove after light-curing.
  • If the applied material is contaminated with water, blood or saliva before curing, wash and dry the tooth and re-apply.
II. Indirect restorations
  1. Prepare the tooth and treat, apply and light-cure as in steps 1–4 above.
  2. Glass ceramics: etch the surface with hydrofluoric acid per the restoration manufacturer's instructions. Zirconia, aluminum oxide, metal, hybrid ceramics and composite: roughen the surface per the manufacturer's instructions, preferably by sandblasting.
  3. Apply G-Bond Universal to the restorative surface and apply the cement per its own instructions. With GC G-CEM ONE, light-curing the adhesive is not mandatory.
Storage
Refrigerate for long-term storage and allow to reach room temperature before use. Shelf life 24 months from manufacture. Flammable liquid (UN1133, Class 3, PG III) — ships by ground within the continental United States. Dental professional use only; permanent dentition.
Features, indications, directions and storage as published by GC America (IFU, brochure and product page). Always follow the current Instructions for Use.

What It is for

the Bottle Refill is a single 5 mL flip-top Bottle of G-Bond Universal — the replacement Bottle for practices already using the kit; dishes and tips are not included. What the adhesive is for:

  1. Direct bonding of light-cured and dual-cured composite restoratives and core build-up composites.
  2. adhesive cementation and priming of indirect restorations (zirconia, base metal, glass ceramic, composite), and sealing of cavity or abutment preparations (immediate dentin sealing).
  3. Intraoral repair of fractured restorations.
  4. Treatment of hypersensitive teeth and exposed root surfaces.
  5. Micro-invasive infiltration of non-cavitated, non-carious enamel (white-spot) lesions.
  6. Post cementation.
Indications and item designation as published by GC America, the manufacturer.
