GC G-Bond Starter Kit Bottle
SKU 421295 · GC America
GC G-Bond Starter Kit Bottle (GC America item 002277) is a single-component, self-etching, light-cure dental adhesive (7th generation) in bottle starter-kit format. GC describes its combination of Phosphoric Acid Ester Monomer and 4-MET Adhesive Technology as providing etch and adhesion to Enamel together with a chemical and mechanical seal to dentin (the Nano Interaction Zone). It coats all BONDING surfaces even in an extremely shallow cavity, and its 5% filler means dentin tubules are never exposed, which GC states virtually eliminates post-operative sensitivity. Application per GC: brush G-Bond onto the BONDING surface, wait 5 to 10 seconds, air-thin with high-pressure syringe air, then light-cure for 10 seconds. The BONDING layer is not visible, and the product stores at room temperature. Source: GC America product page and brochure.Key Features
- One-component, one-coat 7th-generation adhesive — GC describes it as an all-in-one etch, desensitize, prime and bond system that never requires mixing.
- Phosphoric acid ester monomer plus 4-MET monomer — phosphoric ester for bond strength to Enamel and 4-MET for adhesion to dentin.
- Nano Interaction Zone (NIZ) — a very thin interface (under 300 nm) with little or no exposure of collagen fibers; film thickness under 10 µm.
- 5% nano filler seals dentin tubules; GC states post-operative sensitivity is virtually eliminated because the tubules are never completely exposed.
- HEMA-free formulation.
- BONDING layer is not visible, easy clean-up of adhesive overflow, and stores at room temperature (GC).
- Fast application — brush on, wait 5–10 seconds, air-thin, light-cure.
Indications for Use
- BONDING of light-cured composites and acid-modified composites (compomers) to tooth structure.
- BONDING of dual-cured luting and core build-up composites to tooth structure, as long as these materials are light-cured.
Contraindications
- Direct pulp capping (for pulp capping, use calcium hydroxide).
- Patients with known allergies to methacrylate monomer, methacrylate polymer or acetone.
Not to Be Used
- In combination with chemically cured composite resin.
- In combination with eugenol-containing materials — eugenol may hinder setting or BONDING.
- In combination with desensitizers — they may hinder setting or BONDING.
- In combination with dual-cured luting and core build-up composites that will not be light-cured.
Directions for Use
- Cavity preparation — prepare the tooth with standard techniques and use rubber dam. Dry the prepared surfaces gently with an air syringe.
- Application — shake the bottle thoroughly; dispense a few drops into a clean dispensing dish; replace the bottle cap immediately; IMMEDIATELY apply to the prepared Enamel and dentin with the DISPOSABLE APPLICATOR II; leave undisturbed 5–10 seconds after the end of application; then dry thoroughly for 5 seconds with oil-free air at MAXIMUM pressure, using vacuum suction to prevent splatter. The result should be a thin, rough adhesive film with a frosted-glass appearance that does not visibly move under further air pressure.
- Light cure with a visible-light curing unit (times below).
- Place the composite — light-cured composites and compomers: follow the composite manufacturer's instructions. Dual-cured composites: light-cure the composite separately; self-curing alone results in improper adhesion.
- Finish and polish with standard techniques.
Light-curing time
- Halogen / LED (700–1200 mW/cm²): 10 seconds; 20 seconds if the light-guide tip is more than 10 mm from the surface.
- High-power LED (more than 1200 mW/cm²): 5 seconds; 10 seconds if the light-guide tip is more than 10 mm from the surface.
Light-cure completely for an effective bond. Use a protective light shield or eye protection during curing. (GC IFU)
Notes
- After long-term refrigerated storage, let the bottle stand at room temperature for several minutes before use.
- Treat non-cut Enamel with 35–40% phosphoric acid gel, rinse with water and dry gently before using G-Bond.
- Apply immediately — the material contains a volatile solvent.
- Remove excess material from the tooth (outside the surfaces to be bonded) with a sponge or cotton pellet before light-curing.
- If the applied material is contaminated with water, blood or saliva before light-curing, wash and dry the tooth and re-apply.
Storage
If not in use for a prolonged period, store in a refrigerator; otherwise store at room temperature (1–28 °C / 33.8–82.4 °F). For use only by a dental professional within the indications for use.

What It Is For
GC G-Bond Starter Kit Bottle is the bottle-format starter kit of GC's 7th-generation self-etch adhesive. What the system is for:
- One-step self-etch BONDING of light-cured composite restorations to Enamel and dentin — no separate etch, prime or bond steps (see the GC IFU for the full indication list).
- Shallow and conservative cavity preparations, where GC states the adhesive coats all BONDING surfaces with fewer voids.
- Cases where reduced post-operative sensitivity is the priority — the 5% filler keeps dentin tubules sealed (GC).
