Shank, grit and speed have to agree. Run outside the recommended range and the instrument fails early, cuts poorly, or damages the work.

Using it well
- Match the shank: HP 2.35mm bench, RA latch, FG friction-grip. They are not interchangeable.
- Carbide cuts metal and acrylic; diamond cuts ceramic, zirconia and enamel. Using carbide on ceramic destroys the bur.
- Discard warped Discs and worn mandrels — runout ruins the surface and is a safety risk.
