WHIP MIX Pro 100 Thermocouple Assembly — Green Connector

SKU 101752 · WHIP MIX · Mfg #96184 · Fits Pro 100 / Pro Press 100

Description

The WHIP MIX Thermocouple Assembly #96184 is the OEM temperature sensor for the Pro 100 and Pro Press 100 dental laboratory furnaces. It is the single component the furnace trusts to know how hot the muffle actually is: its millivolt output is what the controller reads on every firing, pressing and calibration cycle. When a Thermocouple drifts, your firing temperatures drift with it — and porcelain that fires two shades off, glazes badly, or presses short is almost always a temperature problem, not a ceramist problem.

This assembly ships with a Green connector. On Pro Series furnaces the connector colour is tied to the control-board software revision, so the colour on your unit is not cosmetic — it is the compatibility key. Look at the connector at the back of your chassis before you order. Green, yellow and white are not interchangeable.

WHIP MIX ended manufacture of the Pro 100 more than a decade ago and has wound down factory service on the platform, so genuine Pro 100 service parts are now scarce even at the factory. If your Pro 100 or Pro Press 100 is still earning its keep, an OEM Thermocouple on the shelf is cheap insurance against an unplanned week of downtime.

Works With — Read Before You Order

Connector colour is the compatibility key. WHIP MIX Pro Series thermocouples are supplied with Green, yellow or white connectors, and the colour corresponds to the software version installed on your oven. They are not interchangeable. Walk to the back of the furnace, look at the Thermocouple connector, and order the matching colour. This listing is the Green connector, Mfg #96184.

  • WHIP MIX Pro 100 — porcelain firing furnace
  • WHIP MIX Pro Press 100 — porcelain firing and pressing furnace
  • Not for Pro 200 series furnaces — those take Mfg #96312
  • Not for Jelrus / PDQ burnout furnaces — different assembly entirely

WHIP MIX Technical Support (TOPS) asks for the furnace serial number to confirm the correct service part. Call 800-626-5651 if you are unsure — or use the buttons on this page and our team will check it for you.

When a Thermocouple Needs Replacing

Per the WHIP MIX Pro Series Furnace Operation Manual, a Thermocouple Error is raised when the furnace detects an open Thermocouple for 25 seconds; the furnace automatically shuts off the heating elements. Power the unit off and back on to clear the error — if it returns, the Thermocouple should be replaced.

Other symptoms worth a Thermocouple check before you blame the porcelain:

  • Firing results drifting shade-wise across a whole day of work
  • Calibration that will not hold between checks, or repeated calibration failures
  • A muffle-test temperature reading that looks implausible against room temperature
  • Under-fired or over-glazed results at settings that used to be reliable

Installation Notes (from the factory manual)

  • Unplug the unit and let the muffle cool completely before starting. There is significant current at the terminals.
  • Disconnect the Thermocouple wire from the connector at the back of the chassis.
  • Using a 3/4" wrench, turn the bolt counter-clockwise until the Thermocouple is free, then pull it carefully up and out of the top of the muffle.
  • Handle with care. The manual is emphatic: do not touch the Thermocouple with a bare hand, and do not lay it on any surface carrying chemicals or dust — use a clean surface or a paper towel.
  • On refit, wrap the Thermocouple bolt threads with 1/2" Teflon tape clockwise, tip facing you, at least three full 360° revolutions.
  • Insert into the lid and tighten slowly. Reconnect the wiring and replace the top cover, then re-run the vacuum test.

Summarised from the WHIP MIX Pro Series Furnace Operation Manual (Pro 100 / Pro Press 100). Always follow the full factory procedure; calibration steps are reserved for certified technicians.

If You Are Looking For…

  • The Pro 200 series Thermocouple — insulated, Mfg #96312, fits all Pro 200 ovens including Press: SKU 118767
  • A Thermocouple assembly kit — Mfg #18913: SKU 120590
  • An Infinity burnout furnace Thermocouple — insulated, for M-30 / L-30: SKU 116082
  • A Jelrus / PDQ Thermocouple assembly with connector — Mfg #33963 (not for Pro Series): SKU 120562
  • The yellow or white connector version of this same Pro 100 Thermocouple — ask our team and we will source the matching part number

Why You’ll Love It

  • Genuine OEM. WHIP MIX furnace warranty coverage applies to WHIP MIX supplied parts — a generic sensor is a false economy on a furnace you rely on.
  • Restores temperature truth. Every program you have dialled in is only as honest as the Thermocouple reporting to the controller.
  • Availability where the factory has wound down. Pro 100 service parts are hard to find; we stock and source them.
  • Field-replaceable. A documented factory procedure, ordinary hand tools, no board work — most labs handle it in-house.
  • US support. Boca Raton, FL warehouse and a team that will verify your connector colour and serial number before you buy the wrong one.

Warranty & Guarantee

WHIP MIX warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and manufacture. Any product found defective is replaced per the manufacturer’s policy. As an authorized distributor, US Dental Depot facilitates replacement directly with the manufacturer.

A Thermocouple is a service / wear part whose life depends on firing hours, peak temperature and handling, so no fixed service period is claimed. Note that WHIP MIX furnace warranty coverage applies only to WHIP MIX supplied parts — fitting a non-OEM sensor can compromise coverage on the furnace itself.

Warranty terms are set and administered by WHIP MIX Corporation — whipmix.com
