- Shank must match the handpiece: FG friction-grip for the high-speed, RA latch for the slow-speed contra-angle, HP 2.35 mm for the laboratory bench handpiece. HP is a bench shank and is not used intraorally.
- Carbide cuts. It is not a polishing instrument — use polishers for that stage.
- Fewer blades remove bulk faster; more blades leave a finer finish.
- Run at the recommended speed with water spray. Carbide is brittle and chips if it is levered.
