A handpiece angle or attachment.
An angle changes the axis and gearing between motor and bur so the operator can reach a site the straight handpiece cannot.
RAM Products have built electric laboratory handpieces for over thirty years, and their brushless motors are rated at roughly 10,000 hours — about five times the life of a traditional brush motor. The motor is sealed, so gypsum dust, acrylic swarf and zirconia grit stay out of the windings, which is the usual reason a bench motor dies young.
