Using it well

Check whether the holder is rated for film or for a digital sensor — they are not interchangeable and a film holder can crack an expensive sensor.
Verify the autoclave rating before reprocessing.
Replace bite surfaces once they are chewed; a compressed block no longer positions accurately.
