A periodontal curette for subgingival scaling and root planing.
Curette choice is about adaptation. The shank gets the blade to the sextant and the blade angle gets it onto the root surface — an instrument that cannot adapt leaves calculus behind no matter who is holding it.
The DuraLite handle is larger in diameter and lighter than a solid stainless handle. Both reduce the pinch force needed to hold the instrument, which is the load that accumulates across a full hygiene day and shows up as hand fatigue long before it shows up as anything else.

- Adapt the terminal third of the blade to the root, not the whole cutting edge.
- Retire a blade once it has thinned; a fatigued blade can fracture subgingivally.
Clean and dry promptly after use, then sterilise following NORDENT's instructions for your steriliser. Residue left on stainless is what starts pitting, and pitting is what ends an instrument's working life early.
