What It Is For
Dental laboratory use — not chairside. This is the Accelerator that sets Zapit Base on contact. What the system is for:
- Block out undercuts and voids on stone models and dies before waxing. Developed to fill voids and undercuts, or correct anomalies in models and dies.
- Joining segments — wax, metal or porcelain sections bonded before removal from the model (bridge indexing / soldering index).
- Repairing chipped dies so the margin survives handling.
Why labs pay for it instead of using wax: Zapit Base shrinks less than wax, which means less distortion, and it burns out cleaner than pattern resins like Duralay or GC Pattern Resin — only the amount needed is consumed. It is strong but somewhat brittle and breaks apart if the wax pattern catches in the prep — that brittleness is a feature: it tells the tech there is an undercut.
