A replacement collet — the internal chuck that grips the bur shank. This is the Oz Plus.

A worn collet is the usual cause of a bur that slips, walks, or spins in the chuck. It is a consumable, not a permanent part, and replacing one is far cheaper than replacing a handpiece ruined by running an out-of-round bur.

RAM Products have built electric laboratory handpieces for over thirty years, and their brushless motors are rated at roughly 10,000 hours — about five times the life of a traditional brush motor. The motor is sealed, so gypsum dust, acrylic swarf and zirconia grit stay out of the windings, which is the usual reason a bench motor dies young.

SHANK SIZE — READ BEFORE ORDERING

This item is 1/8" collet. The dental laboratory shank is 3/32" (2.35 mm) — the HP shank every lab bur, wheel, disc and polisher is made to. A 1/8" collet will not hold your dental burs. This size is intended for hobby, jewellery, model and craft work. If you are buying for a dental laboratory, order the 3/32" version instead — ask us and we will point you at the right item number.
